Where are the backups?
The developer gives this Windows backup location:
C:\Users\[user-name]\AppData\LocalLow\DragDropGames\MoonSweepers\Backups
Replace [user-name] with your Windows account folder. This is the announced backup directory; we do not present it as the verified location of every active save file.
The backups are outside Steam Cloud. Steam Cloud support does not mean these local backup copies follow you to another PC.
How often are backups created?
Version 1.0.4 retains up to five automatic backups per save slot. A backup is taken one minute into a session, then every 30 minutes afterward.
A backup schedule leaves gaps: it does not promise a copy after each action. Copy important backups to a separate folder before testing a recovery. That precaution is general file-safety advice, not a new game feature.
Automatic repair and crash recovery
The same update adds automatic save repair and crash recovery. These features improve recovery; they are not a guarantee that every damaged save can be repaired.
Keep the original file and any backup intact. We have not validated a manual rename or file replacement procedure, so this guide does not invent one. Use the developer’s instructions or ask in the official community with the slot, version and exact error.
Do not downgrade a 1.0.4 save
If loading trouble began after a crash, also read the startup and crash checklist. The patch timeline separates the save changes from older launch behavior.
